Its effectiveness, client orientation and rigorous compliance with commercial agreements with suppliers allowed the company to become a market leadership in the distribution of raw materials. At the same time its continuous improvement of service quality according to international standards permitted the company to invest in the construction of the best storage and distribution Centre in all of Latin America.
In 1995, with an investment of more than US$10 million the Mathiesen Group launched the operation of its Mega Warehouse located, near Santiago’s (Chile) International Airport. In 2004, the warehouse was awarded ISO 9000 quality certification.
The company invested US$3 million in the construction of a storage warehouse in Peru.
The same year, and with the view to becoming a regional distribution network of raw materials, the company opened offices in Peru and Bolivia (La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz) followed by Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil (Centre and South). Additionally, the Group made an investment in a SAP information system aimed at an adequate control of business management.
Subsequently, the Group began its vertical integration in some sectors, for example, the tannery sector where it installed a lubricants factory for its Brazilian clients, as well as a plant in Uruguay (Química Oriental S.A.) thus initiating its industrial journey.
